Can you be reimbursed from someones estate?

My mom has taken care of my grandmother for nearly ten years since she was diagnosed with dementia. My grandmother did not have a will before she got sick. My aunt, my mom's older sister is my grandma's executor, though in name only. I it my mom who pays for everything for my grandma, all her medicines, supplies, etc. If there any way that my mom can get reimbursed for this out of my grandmothers state after she pes? Thanks!
