Brutally Honest....?

I love surrounding myself with people that are honest. Brutally honest people make me laugh, because they have no inhibition, and I will always know what they are thinking, and they will be a true friend. But I described myself as brutally honest once, and a mad said that this insinuates rudeness and ignorance, and the willingness to give a stubborn opinion no matter how stupid. I never believed anyone that was ignorant or stupid to have any level of honesty if they didn't know what they were talking about. LOL... you who are so "Brutally honest:" what would you tell this man? :) Or, What is "Brutally honest" mean to you?
